ISEF 24 Grand Final

Our winning startup, MARC (Aaron Devitt), took home the grand prize of €10,000, and was followed by Frensei (Dr.Ali Rizvi) and
BrigaidNet (Abutalha Alam & Bastien Saidi), winning €5,000 and €2,500 respectively.

We would like to thank Jack Pierse for presenting the awards on the night, along with our judges Paul Flynn, Lauren O’Reilly and Dominik Leisi, for giving up their time and bringing a wealth of experience to critique and test our startups

We'd also like to offer a big thanks to our brilliant and insightful interview panel consisting of Tara Beattie, Fionan Dunne, Johann Issartel and Oran O'Flynn for their contributions to discussions on the impact of the current macroeconomic climate on entrepreneurship in Ireland.

Additionally, we would like to thank Goodbody for presenting the Goodbody sustainability award to Saor Water (Ryan Ormonde), and we also want to thank AIB, our headline sponsors, for hosting us for the evening.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of all of our great sponsors - AIB, Goodbody, CFO Services Ireland, Brian Kingham, Andrew Murphy (@Merleview Capital), The Irish Strategic Investment Fund (National Treasury Management Agency), Enterprise Ireland, Scale Ireland and CML Financial Advisors.

Finally, thanks to the entire ISEF team for contributing so much of their time throughout the year and ultimately running such a successful event - Hugo Norris, Andreea-Gabriela Radu, Eoin Dunne, Adam Tunney, Ciara Dunne, Julia Patterson, Finn O'Donnell, Oisin Connellan, Daire O'Doherty, Luka Keyes, Mihaela Borta.

Start-Ups

MARC

MARC is a software for letting agents, and helps tenants in Ireland by fixing the flaws in current issue reporting systems that exist in estate agents offices. It is designed to solve tenants problems faster, thus saving letting agents dozens of hours per week. They are attempting to shift the way in which a tenant reports an issue and what the letting agent actually does with that information. MARC is also attempting to shift the way in which agents contact their contractors, as the current process in place results in slow response times/solutions for tenants all across the country.

Dionys

Dionys is an educational video creation tool. It uses AI to create an animated video based on user input. The user can learn through visual, textual, and auditory means, each reinforcing one another. The video creation engine allows students to create videos specifically on the content they must learn, which can also be used to focus on areas they struggle in. This way, they can generate videos to fill in gaps in their learning they would otherwise have.

MediMaestro

MediMaestro offers a solution to challenges faced by medical students during clinical rotations. Currently, clinical training suffers from a lack of resources, with students often receiving minimal feedback. MediMaestro addresses these challenges by offering a dynamic and interactive learning environment, which maximises educational time and enhances the quality of the feedback. The platform employs AI to simulate realistic and varied medical scenarios, providing immersive and interactive experiences for medical students. By supplementing the resources in traditional clinical training, MediMaestro revitalises the learning process and enriches the training of future healthcare professionals.

Frensei

Frensei is rewriting the PhD journey worldwide by confronting the silent crisis of isolation and procrastination plaguing 2.9 million PhD students each year. This isolation has led to high dropout rates, anxiety, and suicidal tendencies among PhD students. Frensei aims to create a service for peer support, collaborative reading, brainstorming, proofreading, and conference practice. It transforms PhD experiences by forging peer connections at a click with vetted PhD students . The ML algorithm matches students to a vetted peer for a voice call. 5 minutes into the call, the call holds and they match or pass; enabling them to find friends and unlock co-reading, live streaming, and proofreading.

BrigaidNet

BrigaidNet is an affordable, decentralised telecom infrastructure project that provides connectivity to underserved communities and disaster stricken areas. BrigaidNet is aiming to begin trial runs in Bangladesh, where daily electricity blackouts frequently occur due to unstable power grids and poor weather conditions. Total internet costs can be 13% of the average Bengali salary, which also contributed to the selection of Bangladesh as a trial location.
